California law strictly prohibits the possession of domestic ferrets as pets.  Due to the restrictive laws and statutes regarding possession of ferrets, 'West Valley Wuzzles!' will NOT knowingly adopt ferrets to California residents.  We realize that there are probably thousands of wonderful homes in California and that many would be perfect families for our little fuzz-butts.  However, it would be in direct conflict with our ethics and morals to allow a ferret to be 'smuggled' into a 'ferret free' zone where there is a potential that they may be reported to CA Fish and Game, confiscated and possibly euthanized (put to sleep).  Owners of reported ferrets can also be fined and possibly jailed!  Because we are lovers all of pets, we would feel awful if any of the ferrets that had ever been in our care were to meet an untimely end.

 That being the case, we implore you to take a few moments and visit the following web sites and learn more about the statutes.  We also ask that you join some of these organizations, become involved, donate some of your time or money and help change the law!  Clearly the California State Legislature is being manipulated into believing that domestic ferrets are wild animals and therefore come under the guidelines and laws imposed by California Fish and Game!

 The CDFA is now primarily a shelter/rescue organization dedicated to sheltering and placing as many confiscated or displaced ferrets within California as possible.  Their web site also has an impressive set of legal information, ferret related news and information, membership applications to join the CDFA, fun pages, links to other ferret related sites and merchandise as well as contacts to call if you know of ferrets that need their help or intervention.
